A flood warning remains in force for all low lying flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Nakauvadra River including Rakiraki Town, Naseyani at Yaqara River, Tavua River and flood plains of Ba River.

The Nadi Weather Office also confirms that a flood alert remains in force for all low lying flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Nadi River, Nawaka River, and Tuva River in Nadroga.

An active trough of low pressure with associated active rain-bands and strong northwesterly winds continues to affect the country.

The Weather Office has confirmed this morning that the water levels are steadily increasing above alert and warning levels in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the Fiji group.

Expect heavy rain and thunderstorms today.

Please note we can have flooding in flood prone low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses and Irish crossings leading to traffic disruptions.

There can also be surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.

Police have called on parents and guardians to please ensure children are well supervised as they stay home today.

Please ensure they are left in the care of a trusted adult.

Police say the decision made by the Ministry of Education is for their safety, and they urge parents and guardians to support this, by ensuring they are supervised at all times, to avoid any unfortunate incidents.

Call the National Police Command Centre on 9905 296 if you need any assistance.

Please take all the necessary precautions and do not leave things to the last minute.
