Fijian musician Akanisi Vakaloloma has overcome challenges through the MSME programme, which has assisted her to grow her small entertainment business with quality musical equipment.

While speaking at the launch of the MSME Strategic Plan 2025–2030 and MSME Database, Fijian musician and owner of Akanisi Vakaloloma Entertainment shared that for many years, her biggest challenge was access to quality equipment stressing that without proper musical tools, it was difficult to deliver professional sound, expand her services, or compete for larger events.

Vakaloloma says the turning point came through the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development Support Programme, emphasising that through this support, she received a bass guitar and a Soundking bass amplifier that assisted her get more clients.

Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Esrom Immanuel at the launch stresses on the coordination of the strategic plan which reduce duplications and ensures that support reaches those who need it most, while respecting the mandates of existing agencies and partners.

He adds they aim to modernize the cooperative sector through legal reforms, institutional registration, updated database and targeted capacity building so that cooperatives can better participate in markets and value chains.

Immanuel stresses the MESE database will bring these strands together in a way that protects confidentiality while allowing for better analysis, coordination and targeting.

He adds the launch of MSME's will be effective from 5TH January next year.
