PC: Fiji Motorcyclists Association

The Fiji Motorcyclists Association says it stands firmly against the sale, use or distribution of illicit drugs following social media posts claiming that bikers are transporting drugs on motorcycles during the early hours of the morning.

The Association stresses that motorcycling is a passion and a community built on respect, responsibility and integrity.

They emphasise that they do not condone, support or tolerate the misuse of motorcycles for illegal purposes, adding that any individual who attempts to use motorcycles for the transportation or sale of illicit substances acts outside the values of the Association and against the law.

The Association says it remains committed to working constructively with law enforcement and relevant authorities to ensure motorcycles are not misused in this way.

They further stress that if any member of the Association is found to be involved in such activities, they will be removed from the Association stressing they will work with the Fiji Police Force to ensure there are no drug-related cases within the Association.

They stress that its focus is on preserving the positive image of motorcycling and protecting the safety and wellbeing of the public.

They say motorcycling represents freedom, camaraderie and discipline — not crime — and stress that they will continue to uphold these principles and stand firm against any actions that undermine them.

The Association says it is against drugs, adding that it is an organisation committed to helping people and supporting charities, while promoting a shared passion for motorcycling.
