FIFA has ruled out shifting Iran’s World Cup matches from the United States to Mexico, despite concerns raised over player safety.

Iran’s football federation president Mehdi Taj had earlier said they were in talks with FIFA to move their matches, following tensions after US and Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks in the region.

However, FIFA says it expects all matches to go ahead as scheduled.

Iran is set to play New Zealand on June 16, Belgium on June 21 in Los Angeles, and Egypt on June 27 in Seattle.

The United States is co-hosting the World Cup with Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
