FICAC seeks more time to serve Pryde documents in NZ as Magistrate questions delays
FICAC has asked for more time in their case against Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde to serve his relevant documents.

The case was called before Suva Magistrate Yogesh Prasad this morning.

FICAC counsel, Setefano Komaibaba told the court that they are still trying to serve the documents to Pryde, as it has to go through the Office of the Attorney General of Fiji.

Komaibaba says the Attorney-General's Office will then liaise with their counterparts in New Zealand.

Magistrate Prasad asked Komaibaba why it was taking so long as the case was filed in August last year.

He also said that he is waiting for Pryde to be served so that he can decide if he has any objection to him presiding over the case as he worked with Pryde for years, and if he has to recuse himself.

Magistrate Prasad also asked the FICAC counsel about his conflict as he also worked with Pryde.

Komaibaba also agreed he has a conflict of interest, however, they will have to wait until Pryde is served the documents and whether he chooses to raise an objection.

This case will be called again on July 22nd.
