Drua forwards must step up against Crusaders tomorrow - Jackson

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Head Coach Glen Jackson says his forwards must step up in the contact area, warning that losing the physical battle could prove costly against the Crusaders’ attacking strength tomorrow.

Jackson says the Crusaders will be highly motivated, particularly as they prepare to play at a venue where they have built a formidable record.

The Drua coach notes that the Crusaders boast quality across the park, with All Blacks in key positions, making them a constant threat.

He singled out fullback Will Jordan as a standout player, describing him as “pure class” and someone capable of influencing the game in crucial moments.

Jackson pointed to the presence of Fijian players in the Crusaders squad, including Sevu Reece and Chay Fihaki, who continue to perform strongly at the highest level.

Jackson says his side is aware of the challenge ahead and they will need to deliver a complete performance if they are to compete with the defending champions.

The coach also highlighted a major milestone for Crusaders hooker Codie Taylor, who is set to play his 150th Super Rugby match, congratulating him on behalf of the Drua.

The Fijian Drua will take on the Crusaders at 6.05pm tomorrow at the Apollo Stadium in Christchurch.

In other matches, the Chiefs will face the Waratahs at 6.05pm on Saturday and the Reds will meet the Force at 8.35pm.
