Police have confirmed that the projects will move ahead, with community leaders hopeful the development will strengthen law enforcement presence in the two rural areas.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Mata-ni-Tikinao Vuna, Laisiasa Tuimouta, says the locations for the police posts have already been finalized through discussions and agreements between the Ministry of Lands and the people of Vuna.
He says that the establishment of the police posts is expected to improve safety and security within the communities, particularly in addressing ongoing concerns surrounding yaqona theft and the unlawful cultivation of marijuana.
Community members have welcomed the development, saying the increased police presence will help deter criminal activities and provide quicker responses to incidents in remote areas.
Tuimouta says the new police posts are also expected to strengthen the relationship between police officers and villagers, while improving accessibility to policing services for residents living in surrounding communities.
