Charters case adjourned to 18th May to await High Court decision
The case of British and Fijian national, Charlie Charters, has been adjourned to the 18th of May to check on the progress of their application for the release of Charters' devices.

Charters' case was called this morning before Suva Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne.

Charters' lawyer Seforan Fatiaki told the court that, in terms of the personal device application, they have read the supplementary affidavit, and it says that it was obtained through an ex parte order for the extraction of the data.

He says this was granted by High Court Judge Justice Thusharara Rajasinghe, and the affidavit confirms that they are still conducting investigations.

Fatiak says he has requested a copy, and the FICAC lawyer has informed them that he will provide them with a copy of the application.

Magistrate Somaratne informed the counsels that he cannot order a release if the order was from the High Court.

In terms of the stay application, Fatiaki says FICAC filed it last week; however, the registry has not released the documents because the judges were at a workshop.
