Women in the Fiji Police Force continue to face a number of challenges that restrict their participation in peacekeeping operations, despite growing efforts to promote gender inclusion.

In response to these challenges, the Gender Barrier Assessment Project (GBAP) Group Discussion and Validation meeting was held earlier this week for members of the Force.

The GBAP is a Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs project, carried out in collaboration with Cornell University, to better understand the barriers facing women within the disciplined forces.

One key priority of the assessment is to assist the Fiji Police Force in addressing barriers to women’s participation in peacekeeping operations.

The assessment involved surveys, interviews, and consultations with key decision-makers.

The results are intended to shape policies that support women in policing and across the disciplined forces.
