Attempts to disrupt drug operations will face legal consequences - Police

Anyone with the intent of derailing the Joint Taskforce's efforts to disrupt, destroy and dismantle criminal networks and the illicit drug trade, whether external or internal, will face the consequences in accordance with the law.
This powerful message is from the Fiji Police Force, which says its efforts will not be derailed by misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating on social media.
Police say the persistent attempts being made to fuel division between the two security forces, at a time when most people support the escalation of operations, are highly questionable.
Social media users are urged to take time to discern posts, to avoid being used by individuals advancing their agendas.
Police also say there has been overwhelming public support towards the joint efforts, as security forces hunt down those involved in the illegal trade.
The Force adds that it should be raised as to why, suddenly, certain individuals have been unrelenting in their drive to discredit and create disunity amongst those tasked with carrying out the joint operations.
Police say those involved in this campaign are being warned to stop, as attempts to divert and distract attention will not be allowed to continue.

They say law enforcement will work with local, regional and international partners to address this matter.
The Force says it has consistently called on anyone with a complaint against a police officer or service to lodge an official report.
They add that this will allow for the conduct of an official investigation to verify accusations made against an individual or any organisation.
Police say social media group administrators are also warned to take responsibility for the posts appearing on their pages, and to do their part in verifying and filtering posts before they are shared.
They say the joint task force remains relentless in its resolve to tackle the illicit drug trade and associated criminal networks.
The Force says that as the heads of both security forces remain united in the joint approach, members of the public are asked to support current efforts and avoid spreading misinformation and disinformation at a time when the escalation of operations has been initiated.
Police are urging everyone not to be manipulated by those with hidden agendas and are asking that to verify information before sharing posts.
