IHG Fiji Hotels, owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund, has raised $12,000 for Daulomani Safe Home through a series of fundraising initiatives across its properties last month.
IHG Fiji Hotels say the funds were collected through the “Cup of Kindness” campaign, which transformed guest purchases into community contributions.
They say one hundred percent of Friday coffee sales were donated, along with 10 percent from selected desserts, spa treatments, and cocktails at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva.
IHG Fiji Hotels say the donation will support Daulomani Safe Home, a Lautoka-based shelter founded in 2018 that provides temporary accommodation and care for vulnerable individuals, including women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT+ community.
The organization currently houses about 65 residents across two sites, including 17 children.
they say funds raised will be used to purchase essential items such as bedding, hygiene supplies, children’s necessities, and other household goods, addressing ongoing challenges in securing basic resources for daily operations.
IHG Hotels and Resorts Regional General Manager for Fiji and the Pacific, Lachlan Walker, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to community support under its “Journey to Tomorrow” plan.
“Hospitality does not operate in isolation from the communities around us. When guests enjoy a coffee, they are helping meet immediate needs beyond our hotel gates,” Walker said.
Founder of Daulomani Safe Home, Edwina Biyau, welcomed the support, noting that essential supplies directly impact the comfort and stability of residents.
“When those basics are covered, we can focus more on recovery and helping people get back on their feet,” she said.
The “Cup of Kindness” campaign is part of IHG’s 10-year responsible business strategy aimed at supporting communities and promoting sustainable travel.
