Youth account for majority of HIV cases
Youths in the country account for 70 percent of Sexually Transmitted Infections in the country.

This is an overview from Ministry of Youth in relation to issues affecting youths in Fiji.

According to the National HIV statistics, from 1989 to 2010, youths between the ages of 20-29 years old recorded the highest number of HIV cases, with 159 altogether.

Meanwhile, Adolescent Health Project Officer Sister Sulueti Duvaga said this age group is mostly at risk, as they are out of school and they have noticed that most of them come from broken families.

She said they are working with the youth ministry in addressing the issue through health outreach programs around the country.
