Women must step up, mentor, and advocate for each other - Naisara

Women must step up, mentor, and advocate for each other - Naisara

Women often tend to be humble about their achievements without realizing the impact their stories can have on others.

These were the words of the Westpac Banking Corporation Fiji's Head of Human Resources, Patricia Naisara during South Pacific Stock Exchange’s International Women's Day celebration at the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

She says there is still not enough representation of women in the work force.

Naisara says this issue also stems from women themselves and she is encouraging them to step up, take opportunities and become mentors for younger women.

The Head of Human Resources is also encouraging more women in the workforce, in business, and in leadership roles to mentor others, advocate for women, and help pave the way for the next generation.

Minister for Women, Sashi Kiran says today serves as a reminder that achieving gender equality is not only a moral imperative but also an economic necessity.

Kiran says throughout Fiji, women have played a pivotal role in driving economic success and national development whether at the village level, on farms or in leading businesses and financial institutions, which are essential to community development.

The Minister for Women reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to advocating for and creating an environment where Fijian women have access to credit and other banking services.

The theme for this year is “For all Women and Girls Rights, Equality, and Empowerment”.
