People living in the western parts of the country have been urged to brace themselves for strong winds and heavy rain.
A gale warning will be issued this afternoon for Western parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Yasawa, Mamanuca group and nearby smaller islands as Tropical Cyclone Lusi moves closer to the group.
At midday the Tropical Cyclone was located at 670km West of Nadi and is moving east-south-east at 20km per hour.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said Cyclone Lusi is still intensifying and expected to become a Category 3 or Hurricane by this evening.
He added that strong wind warning and damaging heavy swell warning is in place for the whole of Fiji.
He said people should not be complacent by looking at the current weather and start preparing now.
