Welagi 7s expected to be a thriller

The 1st Fiji Bitter Welagi 7s is expected to be a thriller as top teams from around the country will battle it out in the 3-day tournament which kicks off tomorrow.

Teams like Police Blue, Police White, Army Red, Raiwasa Taveuni and Coral Coast 7s runner up Fire will be looking to lay their hands on the top prize.

St. Johns Draiba from Ovalau, DXC Barbarians and Naselesele Blues are some of the teams expected to provide a challenge for these top teams and the crowd should be expecting fireworks at the tournament.

A total of 32 men’s teams along with 8 women’s teams and 16 Under-21 teams that will be participating in the 7s tournament.

Meanwhile, the Welagi women’s volleyball tournament concluded yesterday with the Smash Sisters walking away $1,500 richer after beating Welagi Strikers in the final.

The Men’s volleyball tournament will conclude today.

A total of $20,000 prize money is up for grabs at the tournament.
