This is a new year and it comes with a new challenge, so we want to start on a positive note this weekend.

Those were the words of Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli as the team prepares for the HSBC Perth 7s that kicks off this afternoon.

Fuli says though they encountered an injury to one of their key players, that does not take away their focus on the task at hand.

He says the girls are raring to go and they will want to make some improvements this weekend from the first two tournaments back in Dubai and Cape Town.

He adds the players are coping well with the weather as it is similar to the Fiji weather and they are looking forward to getting the ball rolling today.

The Fijiana 7s are currently in fourth place in the overall women’s points table with 24 points. Australia leads with 40 points while France and New Zealand sit in second and third place respectively with 34 points each. The Fijiana 7s' first match is against Brazil at 4pm tomorrow, they will take on Spain at 8.47pm tomorrow and then play France at 2.22pm Saturday in their final pool match. The quarter finals will start at 7.26pm tomorrow, the semi finals will kick off at 4.22pm Sunday, and the final will be held at 9.13pm Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side will take on Samoa at 6.38pm tonight in their first pool match and then play France later tonight at 11.31pm. They will then take on New Zealand at 5.25pm tomorrow in their final pool match. The Men’s cup quarter finals will start at 10.10pm tomorrow, the cup semi finals will kick off at 5.10pm Sunday and the cup final will start at 9.53pm Sunday.
