Fiji Rugby Union General Manager High-Performance Simon Raiwalui says they understand the challenges that the Super Rugby competition provides but they are there to compete and not make up the numbers.

He adds they believe the experienced players in the squad can lead the team against the top rugby clubs in the Southern hemisphere.

Meanwhile, Interim Coach Brian Thorburn says the side is assembling earlier than other teams because they want to prepare well for next year's competition.

27 players have been named in the Drua side and the rest will be revealed next week.

All players will be contracted for 2 years.

The Super Rugby Pacific kicks off on February 18th next year.
