Water cuts expected for few weeks
Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai

The Water Authority of Fiji said people living in Tamavua-i-wai, Tacirua, parts of Cunningham, Samabula, Delainavesi, Lami, and Veisari to Togalevu may face water cuts for the next few weeks.

CEO Opetaia Ravai said this follows the washing away of two main water supply lines from Waimanu to Tamavua over the weekend due to a landslide at the Savura hills.

Ravai said it has disrupted supply to the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant decreasing water intake by 40%.

This is affecting nearly 67,000 residents in the greater Suva and Lami area from yesterday.

Ravai said the situation is expected to continue till they are able to fix the infrastructure and get it up and running again.

He added that the Water Authority call center is open 24/7 on 3346777 for people to call in to get updates.

The time-frame on when supply will normalise is not confirmed at this stage.
