Wallabies great Giteau comes out of retirement and returns to professional rugby at age 41

Former Wallabies playmaker Matt Giteau has announced he is returning to professional rugby at the age of 41 after signing with San Diego for the 2024 season of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the USA.

Giteau played at three Rugby World Cups and won 103 caps for the Wallabies.

In a post, Giteau wrote this is definitely, definitely his last season and his wife made him promise.

San Diego coach Danny Lee says the club is over the moon to secure Giteau’s services for the upcoming season.

Lee says Giteau is a world-class player who will bring an incredible wealth of knowledge, a competitive attitude, and a drive to succeed with him that will no doubt spread throughout the squad.
