Vibrant performances mark record year for Dance Fest Fiji

The atmosphere was magical at Dance Fest Fiji 2025 as 17 dance companies lit up the stage with vibrant performances of contemporary, island, and hip-hop styles, showcasing the best of Fijian and international talent.

This marks the largest number of participants since the festival began in 2020.

Speaking to fijivillage News, event organiser Tevita Tobeyaweni says the festival, which concluded last night, also featured two international dance companies from New Zealand and Australia.

Tobeyaweni expressed gratitude to the festival’s partners, including the German Embassy, Ticketmax, the Fiji Arts Council, and the University of the South Pacific’s Oceania Centre, which served as one of the event’s venue partners.

He also acknowledged Film Fiji for their support in bringing the event to life.

He says they are proud that Dance Fest Fiji has grown into a platform where new dance companies can form and showcase their talent for the first time, providing invaluable exposure and experience for local performers.

The festival drew large audiences, who were treated to a stunning array of performances reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of the Fijian dance scene.

Attendees were seen applauding enthusiastically after each performance, celebrating the talent and dedication of both local and international dancers.

Tobeyaweni also extended his appreciation to everyone who attended and supported the event, emphasising that such community backing is vital for nurturing the arts in Fiji.
