The Vanua of Caumatalevu in the province of Macuata has pledged its support towards the strengthening of community and vanua-based approaches in fighting crime with police.

The Turaga na Tui Macuata, and former President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere says they fully support the efforts of curbing illicit drugs, targeting the cultivation and found in possession cases.

Ratu Wiliame says his vanua supports the upholding and safeguarding of the laws of the land within his province.

Police say the pledge was made during a visit by the Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu and senior members of the Northern Division Command group to Tui Macuata’s residence in Naduri Village in Macuata.

The Commissioner of Police acknowledged and extended the organisation’s appreciation to the Tui Macuata for taking the lead role in advocating for the safety and well-being of his people.

He reaffirmed the Fiji Police’s commitment to strengthening networks with various sectors of Fiji’s communities and working together to create safe communities for all.
