Two people questioned in relation to Gold medal theft
Fiji 7s player, Masivesi Dakuwaqa.

Two people have been questioned in relation to the alleged theft of Fiji 7s player, Masivesi Dakuwaqa’s Olympic gold medal.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms that a man and a woman were taken in for questioning.

They have been released as Police investigations continue.

People with any information regarding the theft are requested to call Crime Stoppers on 919.

Dakuwaqa’s Olympic gold medal was allegedly stolen from his home in Waqadra, Nadi last week.

Dakuwaqa had said that he knows the person who allegedly stole his medal.

He told Fijivillage that he always kept his gold medal in his room.

He confirms that there were some visitors at his house last Tuesday however he was out.

When he arrived home on Wednesday morning, his mother asked him about his medal.

He says he then realized that his medal was missing from it’s case in his room.

Dakuwaqa says they then started searching for the gold medal in the house however they could not find it.

He says that his room was not locked and he suspects that someone broke into the house.

Namaka Police confirm an official complaint was filed at the station at 8.50am on Tuesday.

Masivesi Dakuwaqa was a shadow player for the Fiji 7s team to the Rio Olympics Men’s 7s competition and replaced Savenaca Rawaca when he was injured.
