Two people today received grants under the government’s Young Entrepreneurship Scheme.

The first recipient is 32-year old James Colata who owns the Crossfit Fitness Gym. He has been given a grant of $30,000.

Colata has thanked the government for the assistance and says his goal is to use his gym to make a leading contribution to Fiji’s fight against NCD’s.

The second recipient is Rakin Wahed who is aiming to develop Fiji’s first health app which will be known as the Pasifika Heartbeat. He has been given a grant of $12,000.

Wahed says the Pacifica Heartbeat will give information on NCD related diseases and provide data on health related information such as blood pressure, sugar levels and health reports.

While handing over the grant, Minister for Commerce, Faiyaz Koya says the current crisis is a strong driver of creativity and if harnessed constructively, our response can be a great source of innovation.
