Truck gets entangled on 2 power lines on Khalsa Rd earlier this afternoon causing traffic

Traffic on both sides of Khalsa Road was halted after 4 this afternoon due to a truck getting entangled on two power lines.

Tacirua East resident Keli Daveta told fijivillage News that the truck got entangled on two low hanging power lines breaking one and uprooting a power pole on the other side of the road.

He says while one power line broke the other one was stuck inside the truck.

Daveta says Police arrived at the scene and controlled traffic while awaiting the Energy Fiji Limited team.

He says the EFL team arrived 30 minutes later and turned off the power to the area so they could safely remove the power line.

The concerned resident says this is happening because there are many houses built too close to the road and the power lines going to their houses are very low.

Traffic is now back to normal as EFL is restoring electricity to the surrounding areas.
