Tropical Depression lies about 35km South-South-West of Koro

A strong wind warning is now in force for Eastern and Southern Viti Levu and remains in force for the land areas of Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. 

The Nadi Weather Office says a Tropical Depression lies about 35km South-South-West of Koro or 45km North of Gau at 3am this morning. 

It adds that the tropical depression is expected to gradually move northwards towards Vanua Levu with the associated rain bands affecting the country till early Sunday. 

A heavy rain warning remains in force for Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. 

A Heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of the Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands. 

A flood alert remains in force for the low lying areas, small streams in the eastern and southern Vanua Levu, Eastern and Southern Viti Levu. 

The Weather Office has also confirmed that the chance of flash flooding and flooding of low lying areas still remains high in areas of localized heavy falls and more rain is expected.
