Former All Blacks 7s star Tomasi Cama Jr has refuted claims that he has applied to become the next coach of the Fiji Airways Men’s national 7s team.

Speaking to fijivillage, Cama says he has not applied because he is still contracted in New Zealand.

The 2012 World Rugby 7s Player of the Year says even he was a bit surprised when he came to learn about speculation that he has applied.

The Fiji Rugby Union is expected to announce the new coach in the coming weeks.

CEO John O'Connor had confirmed last week that they are in the final stages of the selection process.

The Malaga 7s will be played in Spain from the 21st to the 23rd of next month.
