Veteran utility player, Sevuloni Mocenacagi has been selected to captain the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side this weekend at the HSBC Singapore 7s.

The call was made after Captain Jerry Matana was ruled out after the injury he suffered in the early stages of the Hong Kong 7s over the weekend.

Coach Osea Kolinisau has recalled former captain Tira Welagi into the squad to replace Matana and he will join the team tomorrow.

Welagi was not selected for the squad that played in Hong Kong.

Fiji is in Pool D alongside the USA and New Zealand.

This week’s Singapore 7s will feature a modified format, with 12 teams divided into four pools of three.

Each pool winner will advance directly to the semifinals.

Fiji will face the USA at 9.06pm Saturday in their first pool match and then play New Zealand at 12.22am Sunday in their second match.

The Men’s cup semi finals will begin at 6.56pm Sunday, and the cup final will kick off at 11.41pm Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s first match is against Ireland at 2pm Saturday before playing France at 9.16pm the same day.

The Women’s cup semi finals will begin at 5.45pm Sunday, and the cup final will start at 11.05pm.
