Due to a trough of low pressure with associated clouds and showers, there is a threat of flash flood that is likely to affect parts of the Fiji group till tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office says cloudy periods with some showers over Northern division, Lami-Suva-Nasinu-Nausori-Korovou, interior areas of Tailevu North-Naitasiri, coastal and interior areas of Nadroga/Navosa-Serua/Namosi, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands will be affected.

They say there is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh east to southeast winds and moderate to rough seas.

Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low lying areas.

Meanwhile, more than 200 people are taking shelter in three evacuation centres that have opened up in Serua due to flooding.
