Thousands of people in Viti Levu are still without water supply as Tropical Cyclone Harold has caused significant damage to Water Authority of Fiji systems.

Areas affected include Suva, Nausori, Deuba, Navua, Naboro, Korovou, Sigatoka, Rakiraki, Ba and Tavua.

CEO Barry Omundson says they have prioritised deployment of teams to the areas that require attention most urgently and will be repairing and restoring services as soon as they can.

He says water carting trucks are being deployed as and when needed to ensure that Fijians continue to have a supply of clean and safe drinking water during any disruptions.

Omundson says power fluctuations also caused significant disruptions to how the Water Authority of Fiji was able to engage backup generators services.
