The Suva Retailers Association says there is an increase in sales this year compared to the same period last year.
President, Jitesh Patel says this is due to the $360 government’s unemployment assistance, Diwali and opening of schools for Years 12 and 13.
He adds many people have been buying school products, firecrackers, decorations, clothes and decoration lights.
Patel says most businesses have stock available.
He adds a few businesses faced stock issues with firecrackers.
