The Minister for Health, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says there are more than 20 fever clinics operational around the country.

Dr. Waqainabete says in Lautoka the clinics are at Punjas Health Centre Carpark, Kamikamica Health Centre, Saint Thomas High School, Viseisei Health Centre, Ba Mission Hospital, Rakiraki Hospital Carpark, Namaka Health Centre, on the outskirts of Nadi Hospital, Sigatoka Hospital, Nasea Health Centre and Nutrition Training Centre in Labasa, Taveuni Health Centre, Old Public Health Building in Savusavu, outside Nabouwalu Hospital, Levuka Hospital, Lomaloma Health Centre, Lakeba Old Nurses Quarters, Vunisea Outpatient foyer, Rotuma Hospital and Valelevu Multipurpose Court.

He says they are now putting one in Tikaram Park in Lami and one at the Apostles Church in between Raiwaqa and Raiwai.

People with fever-like symptoms can check themselves at the fever clinics rather than going to a health centre which can be detrimental if results are positive for coronavirus.

The focus of the fever clinic is to increase the Ministry’s capabilities to be able to identify the people who are potentially a COVID-19 suspect.
