The person who made an unauthorised entry into a quarantine facility in Nadi last week did not have any contact with people outside the facility.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong says the unauthorised entry issue has been referred to Police.

Doctor Fong stresses that there were no local contacts beyond that of the person that encroached into the facility and the encroachment happened in a quarantine zone that is proven negative.

Police have confirmed that they will investigate 8 employees of different companies after their mandatory 14 days quarantine period.

The circumstances and details on how the unauthorised entry was allowed will be determined after the investigations.

1 active COVID-19 case remains admitted at the Lautoka Hospital isolation unit.

A total of 37,179 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted.

There are currently 1100 people who have recently arrived from overseas undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine in government supervised border quarantine facilities.
