The govt must provide for the Fiji Police Force the lift capability that it needs - Tikoduadua
Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua

Members of the Police Special Response Unit have raised concerns to their line Minister, Pio Tikoduadua on the issue of their leased vehicles having a high mileage.

Some of the officers say their mileage is too high and is way over the 200,000 kilometres mark.

Tikoduadua says he has not had the opportunity to see the type of vehicles that the Police, RFMF and Immigration are using.

He also says they will need specialised land vehicles for the work that they do or to carry detainees and prisoners from the detention centres to court and back.

The Minister adds the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew and senior officers can look at the specialised transport requirement for the force.

Tikoduadua further says the force should not be concerned whether the vehicles are leased or owned as they must have the transport to allow them to do the work that they do.
