Taxi drivers don't need FNPF early withdrawal assistance forms witnessed by a Justice of Peace

The Fiji National Provident Fund has clarified that taxi drivers will not have to get their early withdrawal assistance forms witnessed by a Justice of Peace after some taxi drivers have raised concerns they were turned away by FNPF Nausori staff yesterday.

FNPF says there are no instructions on the form saying that the form has to be witnessed by a Justice of Peace.

Nausori taxi driver Mohammed Niyaz says at least ten taxi drivers were turned away because their forms were not witnessed by a JP.

He says they had to get a JP to their taxi base so that she could sign the taxi drivers’ forms.

He says an entire day was wasted because of this. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 assistance currently administered through FNPF, in partnership with government, has paid out a total of $2.91 million to 3,544 members.

Of this amount, the government has paid $463,000 while FNPF has paid $2.45m.
