Taxi drivers who have been caught doing illegal activities in their taxis should be banned from driving.

This has been highlighted by the Fiji Taxi Association General Secretary Ashwin Lal after three taxi drivers were arrested following a raid conducted in a house where apparatus and equipment allegedly used to produce hard drugs were found.

Lal says they are appealing to the Land Transport Authority and the Fiji Police Force when someone is caught doing this, they should not be to given the right to drive a taxi or any vehicle in the future.

He adds they have always highlighted this in their meetings with taxi owners and operators that such illegal activities should not be condoned because taxi drivers are there to provide services to the public.

The General Secretary says they will be meeting with LTA and Police sometime this week.
