Tamavua-i-Wai community unites to restore marine ecosystem with 13,000 mangrove seedlings

As we strive to protect our marine ecosystem from the impact of development, the residents of Tamavua-i-Wai, Fiji Roads Authority, JICA and the Ministry of Forestry have collaborated on the replanting of mangroves along the seashore at Tamavua-i-Wai.

FRA Manager of Communication and Public Relations, Ashneel Singh says in any development project they undertake, they always prioritize initiatives to restore the natural environment.

He says for this case, it is in relation to the construction of the Tamavua-i-Wai bridge.

Singh says they sent a request to the Chief of Suvavou for community participation in such efforts.

He adds more than 13,000 mangrove seedlings are to be planted.
