Escapee Niko Talemaitoga is back in police custody after escaping from the Suva Courthouse Cell Block on Tuesday.

Police confirm that Talemaitoga surrendered himself to the Southern Division Taskforce this morning.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho has acknowledged the support shown towards the efforts by Police to recapture all 5 escapees since their escape from lawful custody.

Police say that information given by members of the public had aided the work of the Taskforce and is a great show of support towards fighting crime.

Meanwhile, escapees Emosi Baledrokadroka, Maika Tovagone and Jonacani Qalova appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court in a special court sitting yesterday and they have been remanded in custody.

The fourth escapee Suliano Rokosuka who was arrested earlier was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court Friday and has been remanded.

The four are charged with escaping lawful custody and aggravated robbery.

They escaped from the Suva Courthouse Cell Block on Tuesday afternoon and allegedly broke into a man’s house in Tamavua at 1am on Wednesday morning and stole items worth more than $2,000.

Another man, Ledua Tikotani also fronted court yesterday charged with harbouring a prisoner at large. He has been remanded in custody.

Tikotani is alleged to have assisted Suliano Rokosuka after he escaped from Police custody.
