The iTaukei Land Trust Board has now received the appropriate sublease consent requirements from its tenant for the iTaukei land, and New World Supermarket in Narere will continue with its operations as normal.

TLTB says it is aware of a number of social media posts on the recent closure of the New World Supermarket at Narere.

It says a recent inspection of the premises showed that a total of 6 subleases, including the New World Supermarket, were in occupation without the required prior written consent being obtained from TLTB.

They say this was in breach of the requirements of section 12 of the iTaukei Land Trust Act 1940 in that any sublease entered into without the consent of TLTB is unlawful.

TLTB says the appropriate actions have been addressed by TLTB with its tenant and the 6 sublessees including New World Supermarket.

They stress to all their tenants the need to fully comply with the terms of their leases to avoid being sanctioned for non-compliance or breach.

TLTB stresses that it will in upholding the best interests of the iTaukei landowners, continue to closely monitor tenants compliance with their lease conditions accordingly.
