TFL lays off 150 workers
Around 150 Telecom Fiji Limited jobs including those people retired at the age of 55 will be affected as part of TFL’s restructure plan.

Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited said TFL has this week effected a redundancy exercise which is part of its cost rescaling and structural rationalization programme.

ATH said the restructure covers all levels, departments and divisions, and will scale down the company to around 500 staff.

ATH said this is part of the targeted $4 million human resources savings which equates to 20 percent savings closer to industry benchmark.

It said apart from this, the company is expected to save approximately 10 to 12 percent on HR related overheads like office space, administration and resources.

ATH confirmed that TFL staff leaving the company will be paid severance packages depending on the nature of their employment in accordance with the Employment Relations Promulgation.

It said other operational overhead costs reduction like power and support costs are targeted at $3.8 million in the coming year.

The ATH Group of Companies include ATH, TFL, Vodafone Fiji limited, FINTEL and Fiji Directories Limited.
