Suva City Council and Police collaborate to ensure safety during New Year festivities
Suva City Council Acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa

Suva City Council Acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa says they have been working with the police to enhance safety and security, and the public can expect heightened measures as New Year celebrations take place.

In an interview with fijivillage News, Boseiwaqa says police officers will be present at Albert Park today for the FM96 Big Night Out, alongside the council’s security officers, to ensure everyone’s safety.

He is urging the public to remain cautious and act responsibly during the event.

Boseiwaqa says their enforcement officers and the police are collaborating to create a peaceful environment for residents and visitors throughout the festive season.

He says to formalise and strengthen this partnership, they are preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the police, allowing them to work more effectively together in the near future.

The CEO also highlighted that without public support, the improvements achieved so far would not have been possible.

He is urging those who have not yet contributed to these efforts to begin supporting them now.
