Still no action taken in bus fire case
It has been over a year since the horrific Raiwaqa Bus fire in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka, which claimed 12 lives but no one has been taken to task for the incident as yet.

The investigation report into the matter had found that there was poor workmanship on the bus and that the battery main wire from the battery to the starter was not correctly positioned, the clutch plate and disk were not adjusted before the trip and the mechanic working on the bus did not test the bus prior to the trip.

The report also noted that there were no Quality or Safety Assurance checks to clear major safety components on the doomed bus.

One year on and Transport Minister Captain Timoci Natuva said as far as he is aware the investigation report is with the DPP's office to determine if charges can be laid against those responsible.
