The Prime Minister’s office is now actively exploring the concept of setting up casinos in Fiji.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama stressed that it is time to look outside the box and explore new opportunities to grow our economy and assist the poorest of the poor in the country.
Bainimarama has told Fijivillage that his office is now exploring the idea.
He said people should realize that new ways need to be explored and also said that gambling is already legal in Fiji.
Meanwhile, the Citizens Constitutional Forum's Rev Akuila Yabaki said they have some reservations on the casino concept.
However, Reverend Yabaki said if the idea is pushed through, proper legislations are needed and one casino would be enough for a country like Fiji.
