Onyx Managing Director Sean Chow has confirmed that some nightclubs have decided to re-purpose their clubs and change into another nature of business while some still want to maintain their businesses.

Chow says the ones that still want to continue are in discussions with the Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Health to figure out a safe way to reopen their businesses.

Nightclubs throughout the country have been closed since the announcement of the first case of COVID-19 in March this year.

Chow says nightclubs have been affected differently due to the pandemic where the larger ones may still be able to hold on to their business while the smaller ones may be forced to close down.

He adds with no income coming in, they were forced to let most of their staff go while some owners were able to use those workers in some other businesses they own.

However he says most of the workers have been struggling for months now.

Chow says rumours of Onyx closing down are not true. He says Onyx will be back with much better standard of entertainment.
