The situation is worsening.
This has been confirmed by Nadi Weather Office director Rajendra Prasad who said there are no signs of rain bands moving away although some areas in the Western Division may be experiencing some easing of rainfall right now.
Prasad said the whole system will move to the Northern Division tomorrow and reiterates that people in the Western, Eastern and Northern Divisions must prepare for more flooding.
The Nadi Weather Office director also said the weather patterns are likely to continue tomorrow and next week.
Curfew imposed on Nadi/Ba
A curfew is now imposed on the two western towns which have been badly affected by the adverse weather conditions.
Nadi Mayor Timoci Koroiqica confirmed Nadi is under curfew and said they are currently experiencing heavy downpour and is urging people to stay indoors and not go into town where flood waters are rising.
Ba Town is also under curfew as flood waters have again entered the main street.
Ba Mayor Praveen Bala said the town is completely closed and people should not go into town adding that people living near the Ba River should now move to higher ground as at 5.19pm, the high tide will come.
Bala added police officers won't allow anyone to enter the town.
Refrain from travel-DISMAC
People are advised to refrain from travelling as floodwaters continue to rise flooding roads and bridges.
Principal DISMAC officer Patiliai Dobui said for safety reasons people need to adhere to this warning as this afternoon there will be a spring tide that is due to come in at 19 minutes past 5.
Dobui added DISMAC has now activated 30 evacuation centres with 1,178 people occupying them.
