A group of Singapore surgeons will be conducting free heart surgeries in Fiji this month, helping children that are struggling with congenital heart disease are getting another chance at life.

This has been confirmed by Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital after announcing its next round of free heart surgeries from which will be from this Tuesday to next Tuesday.

Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital says this initiative provides critical care for children who would otherwise not have access to such life-saving treatment.

The Hospital says a renowned pediatric cardiac surgeon from Singapore’s National University Hospital, Professor Laszlo Kiraly will lead a 22-member team, including a cardiologist from Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital Palwal, India and pediatric ICU nurses from Australia.

They add that the initiative is supported by the National University Hospital Singapore and the Ministry of Health Fiji, with local medical personnel assisting during the surgeries.

They say Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital has already performed 351 free heart surgeries and conducted over 26,922 free echocardiograms.

They further say the hospital continues to offer heart screenings throughout Fiji and the Pacific Islands, ensuring that every child who needs surgery receives timely care.
