Fiji’s well-known dance group, Shobna Chanel has officially started their journey today to the International Dance and Music Festival.

While speaking to fijivillage News, the team says they are traveling to Lucknow, with a visit to the Taj Mahal along the way.

They say the group is also joined by performers from Malaysia, South Africa, Vietnam and other countries.

They further say this global stage is a chance for Shobna Chanel to showcase Fiji’s culture.

Team member Patricia Niumataiwalu says Fiji is the only Pacific nation at this event and they are proud to represent their country.

She says the group’s performance will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary meke, along with a special fusion item including a fire dance from Samoa.
