Semo villagers to relocate village to avoid floods
The Prime Minister has told Semo villagers in Sigatoka that as a permanent measure, their village will be relocated.

Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said the relocation would put an end to flooding in homes of the villagers.

He added they had talked about relocating the village to higher grounds during their last visit there and now he thinks that they will have to fast track that decision.

Commodore Bainimarama said the RFMF engineers will be deployed soon to ensure that relocation is done this year.

The Prime Minister commended the swift response by authorities, including civil servants, to the recent floods in the Western Division.

He toured areas affected by the recent heavy rainfall, as efforts continue to restore normalcy in the division.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki said all schools will resume classes tomorrow.
