FijiFirst Party General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

FijiFirst Party General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he is afraid for ordinary Fijians as there is talk from the National Economic Summit from a group of ‘city slickers’ to increase VAT, reduce the personal income tax threshold and increase departure tax.

In a video on the FijiFirst facebook page, Sayed-Khaiyum also says the World Bank is making some comments in the latest report but no one talked to the FijiFirst about it.

Sayed-Khaiyum also questions why $500,000 is being spent for the Girmit celebrations and labels the media as ‘tabetabe’.

Sayed-Khaiyum also questions why only the revenue increase for the government is being discussed and not government operating expenditure which is going up as all the government MPs are either Ministers or Assistant Ministers.

We have sought comments from the Fiscal Review Committee Chair, Richard Naidu and Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Biman Prasad.
