Thousands of people living in Samabula, Tamavua, Namadi and Suva are facing water cuts again as there has been another burst at Waimanu Pumping Station.

Two pumps at the Waimanu Pumping Station have been switched off to allow WAF teams to determine the extent of the burst and conduct repairs.

Water Authority of Fiji’s Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg says the affected people may not have water until tomorrow morning as welding works will be done tonight and they expect to restore supply some time tomorrow.

WAF says the burst is a result of the pumps being tripped off which was triggered during a power switch over from their standby Gensets to the power grid after a planned power outage was restored and normalised this morning.

They say during the switch over there was a pressure surge resulting in a burst in the weakest point.

WAF says the affected pumps contribute to over 40% of the flow into the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant so they anticipate that reservoir levels will be affected significantly.

You should expect water supply disruptions if you live in areas from the from Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge through to Togalevu Naval Base along the Queens Highway including all side streets.

People that live in areas from Twomey Hospital to Reservoir Road along Princes Road should expect disruptions.

Other areas include the side streets along Princes Road such as Ragg Avenue, Devoji Street, Mead Road, Niraji, Wairua, Upper Mead Road, Lovoni Road, Loa Street, Goodrum Place, Kaba Road, Saimoni Vatu Place, Bureta Street, Maharaj Place, Tuvana Place, Levuka Street, Tubou Street, Lakeba Street, Helson Street, Nayau Street, Kabara Street, Fulaga Street, Sovu Place, Namuka Street, Moala Street, Vatoa Street, Matuku Street and Totoya Street.

You should also expect water disruptions if you live in areas in Namadi Heights such as Lower Ragg Avenue, Pathik Cresent, Mika Dreu Place, Padam Lala, Salato Road, Tuisawaqa, Salesi Road and all side streets.

Those living along Rewa Street to Flagstaff roundabout including all side streets should also expect water disruptions.

People in Kula Street, Kaka Street, parts of Gaji Road including Jittu Estate and elevated areas along Laucala Bay and Ratu Sukuna Road should expect water disruptions.

Waimanu Road including all side streets will also be affected.
