The Water Supply Department is now calling on all Suva residents to carefully monitor their water usage during this hot weather.
This call comes as water levels at Reservoirs in the Central Division are getting low every day. Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said that they have noticed that over the past two days, people are seen to be using more water as the weather pattern changes.
Nagalu adds that at the moment the worry is with the Suva residents as the North and West are used to this weather.
Meanwhile, Nagalu adds that if the water levels continue to worsen, they are looking at a few contingency plans.
The National Weather Office had earlier issued a statement saying that as a result of the El Nino Effect, the country would experience low to no rainfall until early next year.
The Fiji Electricity Authority Acting CEO Sunil De Silva has said that power rationing country wide could take place if water levels reached critical level which people would not want this Christmas season.
